February Valentine Activity!

February 5, 2020 | homeschool, kids

Messy haired mama's slurping lukewarm coffee, its no small thing to do this work. A friend encouraged me this week that sometimes our greatest mission field is between our front and back doors! A few paper hearts and a few questions. I'm cheering you on!

February Valentine Activity!

February 5, 2020 | homeschool, kids

Here we are, February 5th and I'm just decided to do this. THAT IS OK. There's nothing magic about the first of the month or a Monday, the magic is in going for it. I have really tried over the last year to claim ground in our home for discipling our kids. Not the fancy, beautiful, quiet moments I used to imagine in my head. But the messy kind where we bring our best to the table and let God do something with it.

Anyway, February! I had been wanting to do some type of daily activity with hearts and love. I landed here! Its a simple heart banner. Each day focuses on one aspect of what love is, from 1 Corinthians 13. You can hang up a string and clip these on, glue them to a piece of paper in the shape of a heart, whatever works! It doesn't have to be fancy!

Before I explain how I use it & share the printable, I want to offer something to you. This took so much pressure off for me! Discipling your kids, doing devos, reading the Bible together, it WILL be a hot mess. It won't look how you picture it in your head. Someone will cry. Someone will fight over a heart and rip it. Someone's answer will have to do with the most random thing you could imagine.  You might feel silly and will stumble over your words. Its all good. If you can show up and give it a go, you're killing this thing. It is these consistent drips and offerings that pile up into partnering with the Lord to shape hearts. It might be reading a Bible story after dinner, or going over the questions on your kid's crumpled sheet they got at church. You can do this!!

Here's a simple 3-5 minute idea for this month:

"LOVE IS" Daily Hearts

Hang up the day's heart.

"Today we're talking about how love is ________________!"

What do you know about being ___________________.

How is God _____________________.

What are some ways we can we be __________________________.

Let's pray and ask God to help us _______________________________.

Simple as that! Its always neat to see how things like this encourage MY heart and come up in conversation throughout the days and weeks to come.

Here is the printable for the hearts! Print, cut, done!

>LOVE IS HEARTS<
