I had NO idea. Until I did. And to me, the conversation can’t be about shame or judgement. But it sure can be about awareness.

The New York Mag published an article two days ago that formaldehyde (ingredient in tons of our lotions, baby products, candles, plug ins, perfumes, etc.) is a cause of leukemia and other cancers. You can read it here.

Sadly, the govt often chooses to protect the companies, not the consumers. And you know, those companies provide lots of jobs. People need jobs. I get it. There’s a lot of economics and politics in there that I sure don’t understand fully. I’m not going to show up with a picket sign. But here’s two simple things I DO get to do.

1. I get to vote with my dollars. When I can, I buy stuff from companies who use ingredients and practices that I can get behind.

2. I get to decide what I let inside the freakin door of MY house. Those are MY babies. MY floors they crawl on. MY hormones that fluctuate enough already. Its personal. This is a big one for me. Did you know that upwards of 287 chemicals are found in umbilical cords? ENOUGH is ENOUGH. 

Small, simple choices that lead up to huge impact. We didn’t clean out our house overnight and spend 8 million dollars making the change. Nope, ministry and teacher salary when we started out. Room by room. Month by month. Baby steps. I shared a little more about that here.

Our fam is firmly aware and committed to the understanding that we aren’t in control and we trust the One Who is. We can, however, make decisions within that realm. Proactive and educated, just like putting on a seatbelt or washing our hands after a mall trip.

Its never, ever been easier to get good, clean products into your home. And because we did, now 600 some families are too. THAT speaks to me. That people love the stuff and that it works and that it’s doable for families. You don’t have to compromise to clean it up. I’ll show you what we learned and whats worked. It’s become as easy as a few clicks of a button.
